The Consumer Price Index (CPI), released this morning by Statistics Canada on December 16, 2025, shows an increase of 2.2% in November compared to the same period last year, matching the pace observed in October.

Year over year, growth in service prices slowed in November. Slower rent price growth, among other factors, put downward pressure on the overall CPI. Although rent prices remain high, their growth eased to 4.7% in November, down from 5.2% in October, across most regions.

This trend was partially offset by rising goods prices. Excluding gasoline, the CPI increased by 2.6% for a third consecutive month.

On a monthly basis, the CPI rose by 0.1% in November. On a seasonally adjusted basis, the monthly increase was 0.2%.

Please note that the next release of the Consumer Price Index, including the annual review, is scheduled for Monday, January 19, 2026.
