Brownsburg-Chatham is a municipality in the Laurentides with a population of approximately 7,200. It covers a vast area of approximately 254 km² at the confluence of the Ottawa River and the North River, with a wide variety of areas: an urban core, several hamlets, and large natural spaces. Historically, Chatham was proclaimed a township in 1799, and the merger with Brownsburg (named after local pioneer George Brown) gave rise to the municipality as we know it today.
